Review: New year, new activewear from Aje Athletica

Aje Athletica crop top and Aje Athletica neoprene logo sandals

Adjustable Strap Logo Tape Sports Bra and Neoprene Logo Sandal from Aje Athletica.

When another summer rolled around, I knew it was time to invest in some new activewear.

Call me shallow, but like many people, I find fun and fresh activewear helps me maintain my motivation!

I am a pretty hardcore Lululemon fan and have always regretted purchasing tights and bike shorts from competitors, as they never seem to be as comfortable/flattering/well-made. As such, I typically refuse to buy tights and bike shorts from competitors online. If I were to ever consider trying tights from another brand, I absolutely need to try before I buy (non-negotiable!) and it needs to be 100%, hands-down, pure love!

My fierce brand loyalty does not extend to crops and tops. Whilst I own quite a few Lululemon crops, I also own some from Nike and P.E. Nation - and am pretty open to trying different brands.

This summer, I was excited to try some of the cute designs from Aje Athletica, as I’ve been an Aje fan for years.

Unfortunately, before I got around to checking out my local A.A. store, they’d converted it to a regular Aje store. (Admittedly, not the worst outcome, but I was disappointed when I first discovered this as I did have my heart set on active wear!)

So, I jumped online to check out their range of crops and tops. And it was so hard to choose just a few!

In the end, I settled for:

  1. Twist Back Tank in White

  2. Braided Crossback Bra in Bright Fuchsia

  3. Quilted Logo Crop Tee in White

  4. Adjustable Strap Logo Tape Sports Bra

  5. Logo Neoprene Sandal

See my review of each product in more detail below.

Aje Athletica white twist back tank and neoprene logo sandal

Aje Athletica Twist Back Tank in white.

Twist Back Tank in white

This tank features a simple twist as a feature on the back, allowing you to show off a cute sports bra. Not ideal to wear if you’re doing exercises lying on your back (e.g. pilates, yoga!) as that may be a bit uncomfortable - but not a problem for other exercise or general wear. Initially I was a bit unsure about the feel of the fabric, but once I wore it, I was happy! Only other concern is that it may be one of those fabrics that takes on a bit of a grey undertone in time rather than staying pure white - but for now, I am just projecting and that is not a problem!

Braided Crossback Bra in fuchsia

First things first: love the colour of this one! it is so bright and fun. Includes removable padding (love that for a bit of shape!) and the adjustable straps feature cute braids as a feature. Comfortable, fun, easy to wear.

Quilted Logo Crop Tee

Okay, confession time. I’m not usually one to wear crop tee’s. I have always been a little bit self-conscious about revealing my mid-drift (maybe it’s an age thing? Or maybe it’s just my insecurities?!) - but I decided life’s too short not to live a little! And, admittedly, I do love the look of a cropped tee with tights for an everyday casual look. So, I decided to tip my toes in the mid-drift water with this cute white crop tee from Aje Athletica. The logo itself is quilted so is a bit of a feature, and the fit/sleeves are a bit of an oversized fit. I’ve only worn this one once so far, but as I build my confidence with the mid-drifts it will undoubtedly make more appearances!

Adjustable Strap Logo Tape Sports Bra

Admittedly, this was not the most practical purchase, as I cannot do the adjustable strap up on my own. Whilst I can see the value in the adjustable strap to ensure a good under-bust fit, this does limit when I can wear this one (i.e. not an option for my morning workouts when my partner is still asleep!) Instead, this particular crop will be one for weekend athleisure wear (brunch, anyone?)

Logo Neoprene Sandal

We were in Kingscliff on the New South Wales coast a few months ago when I saw someone rocking a pair of Aje velcro sandals with a simple black dress. Her simple beach styling was chic, understated and eye-catching; she looked incredible! I immediately jumped on my phone to see if they were still in stock. Alas, they were not - so I put my name on the waiting list. However, in the meantime, these A.A. ones were released - and although a slightly sportier aesthetic, I thought they were also pretty cute and a good opportunity to dip my toes in the velcro-sandal trend. (Side-bar - velcro sandals remind my of my Grandpa. He wore them religiously, with socks).

Super comfortable and easy to wear - I have been loving these sandals from A.A.
