Recipe: Chocolate brownies

Chocolate brownies - always a crowd pleaser.

For a long time, this recipe was my go-to whenever we had a work morning tea or I was asked to bring a dessert to a dinner party. These delicious chocolate brownies are easy, consistent and usually a crowd pleaser.

I would usually have most ingredients in my fridge or pantry, so no special trips to the grocery store required!

Chocolate brownies as a dessert: If I was serving these as a dessert, I would serve them warm with ice cream and fresh strawberries or raspberries.

Chocolate brownies are great for a morning tea or served warm with ice cream and berries for dessert.

Ingredients

125g butter

125g dark chocolate

2 eggs

1 cup caster sugar

1 cup plain flour

2 Tbsp self-raising flour

2 Tbsp cocoa powder

3/4 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Directions

  1. Pre-heat over to 180 degrees Celsius.

  2. Place butter and chocolate in a saucepan over low heat. Melt until mixture is just smooth.

  3. Place eggs and caster sugar in a bowl and beat until mixture is pale and thick.

  4. Fold chocolate mixture, sifted flours, cocoa powder and nuts through butter and egg mixture.

  5. Pour mixture into a greased 20cm bake tin.

  6. Bake for 30 minutes or until brownies are set.

  7. Enjoy!
